Trust & safety

How we keep this marketplace honest

Buying an animal from a stranger online only works if the badges, the reviews and the rules actually mean something. Here is exactly how each one works on Repterra.

Verified breeder badges

Any seller can request verification from Settings → Identity verification. You upload a government photo ID plus a selfie holding that ID, and our review compares the portrait to the selfie and matches the name to your account.

Approved sellers get a verified badge on their storefront, every listing, and the breeder directory. Sellers with 50+ completed sales are upgraded to a Verified Top Seller badge automatically, and long-standing founding members carry an Exclusive Seller badge.

Verification is never sold. It cannot be bought with a plan upgrade, and we remove it if an account is found misrepresenting animals or identity.

Two-sided verified reviews

Reviews only unlock after a real, confirmed transaction on Repterra — the seller marks the listing sold to a specific buyer, and only those two accounts can review each other.

Both sides submit privately. Nothing publishes until both reviews are in (or the review window closes), which removes the incentive for retaliation ratings.

If a seller marks an animal sold outside of Repterra, no review is exchanged at all. That keeps ratings tied to transactions we can actually verify.

Transparent moderation & appeals

Every listing, profile and conversation can be reported. Our staff reviews reports against the rules in the Terms of Service — prohibited species, misrepresented genetics, unsafe shipping, scam behavior and payment-link fishing in chat.

When we remove a listing or restrict an account, the reason is written on your dashboard. You are never left guessing why something disappeared.

You can appeal any moderation decision straight from that notice. Appeals go to a staff queue and get a written answer.

We never touch your money

Repterra is not the merchant of record. Sellers get paid directly through their own Stripe, PayPal or agreed method, so there is no platform escrow to hold or lose your funds.

Because of that, payment links are blocked inside chat. Ask for payment through the listing page's payment request instead, and never wire money to someone who pushes you off-platform.
