Insurance guide
Know what shipping insurance covers
Coverage is useful only when the shipment, service level, packaging, and claim all meet the provider’s rules. Review these essentials before purchasing a label.
This guide is adapted from Redline Shipping Insurance FAQ. Redline's current terms always control its services.
What can qualify
- Live animals
- Live-arrival coverage applies only to eligible Priority Overnight or Standard Overnight shipments. Slower services do not qualify for live-arrival claims.
- Minimum coverage
- Select at least the required minimum coverage when buying the label. A shipment with insurance deselected is not eligible for a shipping or live-arrival refund.
- Shipping standards
- Coverage depends on following Redline’s packaging, temperature, service, and approved drop-off or pickup requirements.
Important exclusions
- On-time reptile delivery
- For reptiles, live-arrival coverage is tied to a late delivery. A death after an on-time delivery is not covered by Redline’s program.
- National disruptions
- Carrier-wide service disruptions, including certain extreme-weather events, may make a shipment ineligible.
- Packing or handling errors
- A claim may be denied when the box was packed negligently or Redline Shipping Standards were not followed.
Act quickly on a claim
- Late delivery
- Report an eligible late delivery to Redline within 7 days of delivery.
- Dead on arrival
- Notify Redline within 4 hours of delivery or the available-for-pickup scan, then provide requested photos, receipts, and packing evidence within 8 hours.
- Preserve evidence
- Keep the animal frozen and retain the packaging for 30 days, or until Redline releases the claim, in case an inspection is required.
Coverage and payment
- Coverage limit
- Redline lists a maximum selectable coverage amount of $10,000.
- Reptiles
- For an approved reptile claim, Redline says the payout is based on the coverage amount selected rather than the animal’s market value.
- Other contents
- Invertebrates, aquatics, and merchandise are generally limited by documented market or invoice value and cannot exceed the selected coverage.
