Payments guide
Pay sellers with confidence
Repterra never holds purchase funds. Learn how to agree on the deal, choose a traceable payment method, and preserve the records you may need.
How payment works
- Pay the seller directly
- Repterra connects buyers and sellers but does not collect, hold, or release the purchase money. The seller invoices the buyer using a payment method they accept.
- Agree before paying
- Confirm the animal, total price, shipping charge, destination, ship date, and live-arrival terms in Repterra messages before sending money.
- Repterra fees
- Repterra does not charge buyers a marketplace fee or take commission from a sale. Payment providers may charge their own processing fees.
Choose a safer method
- Card or protected checkout
- A credit card, PayPal Goods and Services, Stripe invoice, or another documented business checkout may provide dispute rights. Read the provider’s terms first.
- Seller-selected options
- Sellers may also accept services such as Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, or Square. Protection varies widely by service and transaction type.
- Avoid irreversible payment
- Do not pay strangers with gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or a friends-and-family option that removes purchase protection.
Keep a complete record
- Stay in Repterra messages
- Keep the price, terms, photos, shipping details, and changes in the Repterra conversation so both sides have a clear record.
- Use a deal agreement
- Before payment, buyer and seller can sign Repterra’s deal agreement covering the destination, payment method, shipping responsibility, and safe-arrival terms.
- Save receipts
- Keep the invoice, payment confirmation, tracking number, signed agreement, listing screenshots, and delivery photos until the transaction is fully resolved.
If something feels wrong
- Pause before paying
- Do not continue if the seller changes the price unexpectedly, pressures you to hurry, refuses a traceable method, or asks you to leave Repterra messages.
- Payment disputes
- Because the seller receives the funds, refunds and payment disputes are handled with the seller and payment provider. Contact the provider promptly because deadlines apply.
- Report suspicious activity
- Report the listing or account to Repterra. We can review activity and enforce marketplace rules, but we cannot reverse a payment held by another company.
