Breeder Terms

Repterra exists to move healthy, well-kept animals between responsible keepers. By listing on this platform you confirm that every animal in your care is housed, fed and maintained to the accepted husbandry standards for its species, and that you will continue to meet those standards for as long as the animal is in your possession.

Repterra reserves the right to permanently and irreversibly ban any seller found to be failing their duty of care. A permanent ban means no future account, shop or listing on Repterra under any name, business or associated household.

Enclosures must be species-appropriate in size, secure, escape-proof and free of hazards, sharp edges, soiled substrate and standing waste. Animals must have adequate space to fully extend, thermoregulate and express normal behaviour.

You must maintain the correct thermal gradient, ambient and surface temperatures, humidity range, ventilation and photoperiod for the species, using regulated and monitored heating equipment. Unregulated heat sources, chronic overcrowding, permanent rack confinement below species minimums, and deli-cup housing beyond appropriate grow-out or shipping periods are not acceptable long-term husbandry.

Species with documented UVB requirements — including most diurnal lizards and chelonians — must be provided with functioning, in-date UVB lighting at the correct index for the species and enclosure geometry.

Diets must be species-appropriate, correctly sized and offered on a schedule suitable for the animal's age, weight and reproductive condition. Clean fresh water must be available as required by the species.

Insectivorous and herbivorous reptiles must receive appropriate calcium and vitamin D3 supplementation, gut-loaded feeder insects and a correct calcium-to-phosphorus balance. Nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism — commonly known as metabolic bone disease — along with obesity, hepatic lipatosis, chronic dehydration, gout, hypovitaminosis A and preventable starvation are treated as evidence of husbandry failure, not misfortune.

Deliberate withholding of food or water, power-feeding for growth or sale weight, and feeding live vertebrate prey in a manner that causes injury or undue distress are prohibited.

Animals must be free from untreated illness or injury at the time of sale. Sellers are expected to quarantine new arrivals, maintain sanitary practice between enclosures, and manage parasites, retained sheds, respiratory infections, stomatitis, dysecdysis, scale rot and mites promptly and competently.

Where a condition exceeds your ability to manage it, you must seek qualified veterinary care. Animals with serious, untreated or terminal conditions may not be listed for sale, and known health history must be disclosed in full to the buyer before payment.

Females must be of appropriate age, weight and body condition before being paired, and must be given adequate recovery between clutches or litters. Repeated back-to-back reproduction that depletes an animal is prohibited.

You may not knowingly produce, list or advertise combinations with established lethal or severely debilitating defects, and you must clearly disclose any morph associated with a known neurological or physical condition — for example the wobble associated with spider-complex ball pythons or the enigma syndrome in leopard geckos. Animals with significant kinking, spinal deformity or other defects must be disclosed and never sold as unaffected stock.

Live animals must ship only via an approved live-animal service, in insulated, correctly ventilated and securely packed containers, with appropriate heat or cold packs, and only within safe weather windows at both origin and destination. Animals must be shipped unfed at an appropriate interval and never shipped while visibly unwell, gravid at term, or freshly imported and unstabilised.

You are solely responsible for all permits, licences and record-keeping required by federal, state, local and international law, including CITES, the Lacey Act, USDA rules and any state venomous or restricted-species legislation. Wild-caught animals must be legally sourced and disclosed as wild-caught.

Repterra may investigate any credible report of neglect using listing photos and video, shipment reports, buyer documentation, veterinary records and publicly posted content. We may request additional husbandry photos of the animal in its actual enclosure.

Depending on severity, we may issue a warning, remove listings, suspend selling privileges, or permanently ban the account and all connected accounts. Severe neglect, cruelty, animal hoarding, falsified health claims and repeat offences result in a permanent ban with no route back onto the platform. Where the law requires it, we will refer evidence to the appropriate authorities.

You may appeal an enforcement action from your dashboard, and a moderator will review it. Repterra's decision on permanent bans for welfare violations is final.

Every seller must accept these Breeder Terms before publishing their first listing. Continuing to sell after an update to these terms constitutes acceptance of the updated version. See also our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Questions or welfare reports: hello@repterramarket.com.
